All submissions must be original, unpublished one act plays.
Submissions must be postmarked on or before October 1, 2009.
There is no entry fee. Prizes are $100 for first place, $50 for second place, and $25 for third place.
Additional Information:
- Send a duplicate copy, not the original.
- All scripts should be legibly typed, firmly bound and of a standard size.
- Scripts will be returned only if accompanied by a manuscript size, self addressed, stamped envelope.
- Playwrights will be notified by e-mail or telephone when their manuscript is received.
- Scripts should include: a separate title page with name, address, telephone number and e-mail address, a cast of characters with descriptions, a brief synopsis, and numbered pages
- Playwrights will be notified by December 1, 2009, if their play has been selected.
- All production and publication rights remain the property of the playwright.
- Stage Door Productions shall have the right to produce selected scripts without payment of royalties.
- 9. Production will be at the discretion of SDP.
- Only stage plays will be considered. Film and TV scripts will not be accepted.
- Scripts will be judged on concept, dramatic action, characterization, and dialogue. Technical requirements will be noted.
- Critical analysis of scripts will not be provided.
- Playwrights should be aware that the size of our stage is limited. There are no wings or opportunities for elaborate scene changes. Utilizing existing walls in the space and strategically placed set pieces is encouraged. There is an entrance on stage right through a door and one on stage left from a narrow hallway.
- SDP suggests that scripts have running times of between 15 to 50 minutes.
- Playwrights are encouraged to direct their own work, but this is not a requirement.
- Auditions will be held the first week of January.
- SDP will not provide rehearsal space.
