Stage Door Fall Session 2008
Beginning Monday, September 8 and ending Thursday, November 20
Grades K-2 Creative Dramatics, Mondays, 4:30-5:30, $100.00
This class will allow the students to explore their creativity using their own voice and unique personalities. This class features many movement-based activities as the student will be challenged to use their body creatively to demonstrate a wide range of characters, emotions, and situations. We will also explore acting games and exercises as the student learns to be socially comfortable as they formulate original ideas.
Acting, Grades 3-5 Mondays, 5:45-6:45 p.m., $100
The class stresses the importance of physicality through its application in a wide variety of acting games and engaging exercises. Topics will include: pantomime, storytelling, readers theatre, acting, improvisation, and creative movement. This class is a great opportunity for the student to grow as a performer while exploring the world of theater in a safe, non-competitive setting.
Acting, Grades 6-8 Wednesdays, 4:30-5:30 p.m., $100
This class is process based as the young actor will participate in acting exercises, movement activities, and informal performances. The class will also encourage students to enrich their instruments of voice and body through several exercises used in the theatre today.
Acting, Grades 9-12 Thursdays 7:00-8:00, $100
The class focuses on improving the techniques and acting skills of each student performer . Technique exercises will be used, along with some script work. Each student will begin to find their own performing style while learning how to create fuller characterizations and make more interesting choices with dialogue and character interpretation. Scenes will be presented at the end of the session, in rehearsal format.
Acting, Adults Wednesdays beginning Sept. 24 from 7-8:30, $110
This class provides an acting workout. Beginning with acting fundamentals, this class provides opportunities for the actors of all experiences to hone character development, text exploration and voice/movement skills. This class will use improvisation; sense memory, active listening and more to better understand the craft of acting and performing. Actors will study short, objective driven scenes with minimal off-sight rehearsal required. Actors will be encouraged to explore their desires and frustrations while developing their natural abilities.
Grades 6-8 Improvisation!, Wednesdays, 5:30-6:30 p.m., $100
This class is a basis for the world of improvisation and the quick wit, timing, and focus it takes! This fun class focuses on “saying yes” and honing skills as an actor in an improvisational setting. Be ready to think on your toes and plan for an improv type audition and build the improvisation skills to strengthen and support any stage situation.
Grades 9-12 Improvisation! Thursdays 8:00-9:00, $100
This class is a basis for the world of improvisation and the quick wit, timing, and focus it takes! This fun class focuses on “saying yes” and honing skills as an actor in an improvisational setting. Be ready to think on your toes and plan for an improv type audition and build the improvisation skills to strengthen and support any stage situation. This class will also focus on the use of informal improvisation to enrich memorized roles and will include formal improvisation meant for live performances
Gades 3-5 Musical Theatre with an emphasis in Voice, Tuesdays, 4:30-5:15, $100
These classes provides students the opportunity to explore acting exercises, movement for musical theater and introduce students to the basic techniques of vocal production, tone production, and breathing through variuous exercises and demonstrations. Repertoire selected from Broadway musicals. No prior vocal training required.
Grades 6-8 Musical Theatre with an emphasis in Voice, Tuesdayss, 5:15-6:15 p.m., $100
